Cultures of Consumption
Cultures of Consumption is a new £5 million research programme that studies consumption in a global context. Research ranges from the consumption of public services in Britain to the consumption of drugs in East Africa, from the fashionable West End of London to the commodification of water and cosmopolitan citizenship. The research programme is funded by the ESRC and AHRB and brings together leading researchers from the social sciences and the arts and humanities. New research is now underway in the programme on ageing and consumption, mortgages and consumption, public services, transnational food and commodities, social status, design, and new theories of consumption For details of the programme visit http://www.consume.bbk.ac.uk/index.html
